CREME BRU-FUCKING-LEE, Trash Husband ordered some for me from T2 and I am just devouring it.
What, in the actual fuck, does one say about Dwarf Fortress?
I'm going to start with it is a special snowflake that gets a whole page just to itself because my god, it's amazing. To me, Dwarf Fortress isn't a colony sim, it's a story telling sim. The sheer amount of depth in the world building from the large scale to the small scale is mind blowing. I've tried other games but nothing will compare or can compare to this masterpiece. Without it, I wouldn't be in the position I am today with streaming eaither, So I'm forever greatful to Tarn, Zach, and everyone else who has had a part in creating this fucking masterpiece of a game. AND all the DFHack devs deserve the biggest of smooches as well.
I learnt about DF when a friend introduced me to Kruggsmash's videos on youtube. I don't remember if I was already playing rimworld at this point and thats why they told me about dwarf fortress because in a way, they are similar games. Anyway, I was hooked. I tried to play the game myself but just kept bouncing off it. Classic DF had a learning curve so steep it was practiacaly vertical at this point. It wasnt until I learnt about The Lazy Newb pack, installed a tileset and watched a combination of Nookarium and DasTastics tutorials that broke it down for me step by step that I was able to make my first fort!
I really didn't sink my teeth into the game untill I started streaming it. The community was and still is wonderfull, helping me learn the game and answering any questions I had till the point I'm at today. Still terrified of pumpstacks and minecarts, but 9/10 of my forts are sucsessful and really only die fps deaths these days unless I try to do something really fucking dumb.
Want to learn how to play? Here are some places to start that have helped me!

DF Creators I enjoy
I tried to keep it to people that play DF as their flagship/makes up most of their content. Sorry if I've missed someone!
